Drum Shaker

How to make Drum Shaker

Materials Needed:metal tin, Little rocks. wrapping paper and tape .
Drum & Shaker..

Explanation of how sound is created:
Introduction: When you shake the bottle the rocks shake and hit the tin and vibrates  that creates the sound.

Main reason: Answering ‘how’...
You would have to fill it up wit little stones then tape the top.

Second reason:
Without stones when you shake it no sound would come out.

Third reason:
You need to make some drum stick with napkins then tape it around. After that you can design it.

Conclusion:
It was loud design perfectly and it was a drum and when I hit the drum it made the shaker sound.

Why is swimming important

The reason why swimming is important in New Zealand is because NZ(New Zealand) is the most likely country for people to drown and die. If you fall off a boat and you have no life jacket you might drown or have to swim to shore. Every time you go to the beach you should always be with a parent.

You should always have a life jacket with you when you're on a boat. New Zealand is the most normal place for people to go to the beach and go without parents. Mostly every school in New Zealand have been funned by the countie for kids to get free training and get free lessons.

How does a musical instrument create sound?

How does a musical instrument create sound?

Task: Write an explanation to describe how a musical instrument creates sound e.g. a guitar. The way a guitar makes sound is it has a metal string which you strum and you could tune using the tuning pegs.

notes
chords
pear shape
rhythm

From ages ago to 2014 people have been creating instruments. The world has lots of instruments. For example we have guitar, drums, piano, bass, idiophones and more. Most instruments that are used in songs are bass and guitar. There are loads of musical instruments that you could choose from.

The guitar has a metal wired string which you use to strum or pick. The headstock is where you tune the guitar using the tuning pegs. The shape of a guitar is like two circles and a line that goes as the neck.

How is sound created from a guitar? The way a guitar sound travels is when you strum the metal wire it vibrates or shakes. The reason there's a hole in the guitar is so that if you strum it, the sound travels into the hole and reflects and makes the sound louder.

4. How to play a guitar:When Neo strummed the guitar the sound came out louder than a electric guitar because the electric guitar has no hole in the middle of the guitar. But electric guitar gets plug into an amplifier to make the sound louder. When I use a guitar I use one hand to change the sound of the guitar and I use the other hand to strum.
5. Conclusion:
First you've got to learn the basics like the chords and where everything is. Here's a link to learn how the guitar works. The way a guitar makes sound is it has a metal string which you strum and makes sound and travel into the hole and reflects to make the sound louder.

Funnel ears Science experiment

Science experiment:

Question: What will happen to the sound if I change the shape of a piece of paper? (e.g. from a flat shape to a funnel shape)

Links to research about Sound:

Hypothesis: (What do you think will happen?) e.g. I think that….
As a flat paper the sound would be like someone inside your head
Materials needed:

Experiment (procedure):

e.g. Step 1 - First hold a flat piece of paper against your ear. Block your other ear with your hand. Get your partner to speak to you. What is the sound like? Can you hear clearly?

Step 2 - Next, roll the piece of paper into a funnel shape. Put the funnel against your ear. Face the funnel towards your partner and listen to them speak. What does it sound like? Can you hear clearly?

Step 3 - Next, face the funnel to the side while your partner speaks to you. Does it make a difference to the sound that you can hear?

Step 4 - Put some cotton balls or tissue paper into the funnel to block one end. Does it make a difference to the sound you hear?

Step 5 - Next, roll the piece of paper up and l

Data (What happened?)

Shape/object/materials
Results:
1
flat piece of paper
No difference at all to the sound.
2
funnel facing to the front
sound is more clear and louder.
3
funnel facing to the side
the sound isn’t more clearer because it echos and its quieter
4
cotton ball or tissue  blocking the narrow end of the funnel
The sound is like everyone is whispering to each other
5
rolled up piece of paper (facing to the front)
it sound like it was echoing and when i faced the other way it sounded like it was a beach near my ear…..
6
rolled up piece of paper (facing to the side)
It would sound any better the sound would echo a little.

1130 feet per second

Observations:

when I used a flat paper it didn’t make any sound...
when we use a funnel sound is more clear and louder.
when the funnel facing the front the sound isn’t more clearer because it echos and its quieter. When we use a Cotton ball or tissue  blocking the narrow end of the funnel The sound is like everyone is whispering to each other. When we used rolled up piece of paper (facing to the front it sound like it was echoing and when i faced the other way it sounded like it was a beach near my ear. When we used rolled up piece of paper (facing to the side) It would sound any better the sound would echo a little.

Conclusion:

When you are facing to the side it echos. When you are facing to the front it is more clearer and you can hear them more better.  The rolled paper facing toward the front sounded more clearer than facing in toward the side. The funnel facing towards the person sounded the most clearest than facing away from them.

If the paper it flat all you can hear is them talking at the back of you but if its rolled up you could hear more better.

Music

The way music travels is through liquid or gas which is kept together in random directions which we call sound waves. They go from one location to the other.

Music helps you remember past events. The hippocampus is a part of your brain in which all your memories are kept. In most music the instrument that is used mostly is the guitar.

Hip hop is my favourite type of music. Michael jackson was the king of pop and entertainment. Music is a cool thing for my friend and I because it relaxes us. It makes us want to dance and sing or express yourself.

When you listen to sound the sound waves travels to your ear drum which vibrates and that travels to the brain which send signal and gives emotions and feelings.

The music that makes me happy is hip hop music and the type of music that makes me sad is boyz to men.

Science experiment template

Hypothesis: (What do you think will happen?) e.g. I think that….
The sound will become higher as you cut it shorter.
Materials needed:
Straw and Scissors.
Experiment (procedure):
e.g. Step 1 - Crease straw 2-3cm from one end

Step 2 - Cut crease straw into triangle shape. blow air into cut end

Step 3 - Listen to the sound it makes.

Step 4 - Cut the straw shorter to see what sound it makes.

Step 5 -Blow on cut end. Listen.

Data (What happened?)
straw length
What happened?
15cm
The sound was a deeper sound.
9cm
The sound became higher just between.
3cm
the sound was a higher pitched.
Observations:
Sound was higher.

Conclusion:
The longer the straw the lower the pitch.

The shorter the straw the more higher pitched.

Immersion Assembly

Term two is going to be awesome. Every term PES(Pt England School) start off with a immersion assembly and a topic. On Monday the beginning of term 2.  I got to school I saw Isara, Mr Burt and Levi setting the hall up. I decided to help them before the bell goes.

The first thing we did was blowing lots of balloons up with helium. We lost about 3 balloons because we let them go by accadit. The bell went I ran to class and waited in line for my class. Our topic for the term was I like to move it, move it.

When we walk into the hall as soon as my teacher step in to the hall the music started. We left early so we could get a good seat. We walk around the people and sat at our seats. We started off with teams one performance but their performance was a video of going to the zoo tomorrow for a trip.
